Melbourne to get the Eye

Melbourne has started work on their equivalent of the London Eye, which will be located in Docklands. The Southern Star Observation Wheel will open in late 2008 and is about the same size as the London Eye.

I went on the London Eye, the last time I was there in early 2000. Worthwhile to do once.

Didn't they plan this years ago and it got scrapped because (I *think*) it was hideous?

Whats changed since then?

The London Eye is pretty impressive.

Who knows what will happen to the more trumpeted Millenial Celebration Construction...

No doubt it is hideous, but my secondary question is what is there to see in Melbourne from the air?
